River Dunes in Oriental North Carolina began development in 2006. Approximately 35 homes have built to date of the 650 planned. The attractive Pamlico Sound real estate development sprawls over 1,345 acres and the developer has preserved 328 acres as a conservation easement with beautiful hiking trails that meander through the middle of the preserve. River Dunes is located in one of the most beautiful locations on the East coast. You have a great combination of big water (Pamlico Sound) and smaller rivers, creeks, and estuaries to explore with sailboats, motor yachts, and kayaks. The Intercoastal Waterway is less than a mile away. The nature is fantastic with beautiful surroundings and abundance of wildlife. We love being active and close to nature. The quality of the amenities and structures at River Dunes is top notch, and the staff does an excellent job to maintain that. There is lots of activity and new construction to make living here even better. We retired full time here this year after building our home 4 years ago. We looked at many places, but never saw anything that matches up to all the things we were looking for in a community now and 20 years from now. The towns of Oriental and New Bern have everything we need. Bigger cities like Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston, and Washington, DC are not that far away to reach by car. Our dog, Jack, gives River Dunes a 5 star rating as well!

River Dunes has a great neighborhood feel and also is a great place for Summer/ Winter home. Great clubhouse and a top- notch secluded marina in the Pamlico Sound and Nuese River juncture.
