Thoms Estate Reviews

"Great location in a great city. Unfortunately the Developer is spoiling this little slice of heaven. You can't trust them -- at all. They over spend on somethings and then cheap out on others. Biggest issues are often the smallest -- like not cutting the grass. My home is surrounded by 3 ft tall weeds. Not the ideal community I was promised."

"I’ve been asked numerous times by many different people WHY my husband and I chose to move to the The Thoms Estate. My honest answer is that, in our opinion, it is the best place to live in Western North Carolina. The location is perfect. We are exactly 3 minutes (4 if you stop to watch a hawk flying overhead) from everything anyone could possibly need OR want. Within that 3-4 minute drive, you will find the best grocery stores in the area. There is a coffee stop that specializes not only in gourmet coffee options but also hot chocolate with whipped cream for the kids. There are several amazing restaurants and pubs to frequent as well as every fast food chain you can imagine. The post office is there. The laundry and dry cleaners are across the street. There is a retail clothing and housewares store, a beauty salon and spa, the public library, various small craft businesses, a toy store, an ABC store, a famous bakery, and the list goes on. Even more enticing is the fact that Thoms is only an 8 minute drive from the heart of Downtown Asheville and all it has to offer. I am sitting at my desk writing this and watching the winds blow through the trees. I am minutes from town but am surrounded by mountains. There isn’t a hint of the outside world, only Nature. Every homesite has gorgeous views. We have walking paths that meander through the woods and hills. They blend so perfectly with the natural landscape that they could be old Indian Trails or well used animal paths. There are sidewalks lining every street that are great for young mothers pushing baby carriages and old folks out for a stroll. There are rain gardens that are not only beautiful but also practical. There is a playground for grandchildren who are visiting as well as for the children (and grownups) in the neighborhood. An outdoor pavilion is being built for Thoms Community events and gatherings, and there is even a rumor about a lookout tower at the top of the mountain. The landscaping is graceful and well done. The area has the look and feel of generations of nurturing and care. There are several areas from which to choose in the estate, each with its own unique attributes. My husband and I, however, have chosen to live in The Village. This is a small community of forty sites. There are a number of possible house plans from which to choose in this section, but each new home is as individual and unique as its owner. No two homes are the same. The Village has the feel of a small European town with well manicured lawns and perfectly maintained streets and common areas. At night, the Old World charm is enhanced by the street lights that give a sense of warmth and security to the neighborhood. The ARK Team, those individuals who have made this possible, is professional, knowledgeable, talented and friendly. If you need a hand, they are there to help. No question goes unanswered. No request is deemed inappropriate. There is even help with interior design questions! The construction is top quality and done by the best builder in the area. If there is a problem, someone is there to help that day! The Estate’s HOA for the area in which we live includes all lawn and outside maintenance. Every sidewalk is swept and the streets are always free from trash and debris ! The neighborhood asthetic is consistent and inviting! It will always be maintained to the highest possible standard. Because our community is gated and so well maintained, we have the luxury of simply locking our house and taking off whenever we choose to do so. This feature is one of the nicest and most unusual. That feeling of safety and security is nice to have in this day and age."
