Chestatee in Dawsonville is the only community on Lake Lanier to offer golf and boating Marinas. The residents are friendly and genuine. There are many social activities, the HOA board works hard to address any concerns and are working on plans for community improvements. The Golf Course layout is friendly and challenging at the same time. The developer needs to make substantial improvements to the course, particularly the bunkers. Despite the increase of new home building the developer has yet to secure a builder to add new homes, preferably with a smaller footprint for those wishing to downsize but remain in the community. New shopping and restaurants have increased what had been limited retail options. Close to University of North Georgia and quaint Dahlonega.

Chestatee has potential to be a little sister to Reynolds Plantation. We built our lake home in Chestatee in 2002 and the community was very fresh and vibrate. There has been significant degradation in the last eight years. The homeowners are now in charge of the HOA and the HOA Board lacks vision and the developer has checked out. It is sad to see a community with so much potential decline so quickly. Thank goodness we built on the lake, otherwise we would not continue to make our home in Chestatee.
