Mercer Reynolds, the founder of Reynolds Plantation and original developer of Achasta, had a goal for Reynolds Linger Longer Communities, to "leave each community better than we found it, including the land, the people and the greater community". Planting 500 trees, 1,200 plants and preserving 50% of this Georgia mountain community as protected open space is a reflection of goals accomplished making it ideal to Baby Boomers who want to retire in one of the best small towns in Georgia.

Nicknamed the River of Running Lights, Chestatee River naturally adds to the beauty at Achasta Golf Club. Fresh mountain air, refreshing waterfalls and interesting hiking trails contribute to a healthier lifestyle found in the mountains. Achasta's Outbound Director coordinates activities year round at Achasta golf. Wine tasting, book, gourmet cooking and Women's Clubs are just a few of the social clubs at Achasta Golf Club, chances to meet friends and share lifestyle interests. Not all residents are golfers. With the Chestatee River running through Achasta, trout fishing, canoeing and kayaking are water sports available to residents. As an established gated community, you'll find homes for sale in northern GA at Achasta in the mid $300k's and lots under $100k. Approximately 200 homes have been built to date of the 490 planned. If you decide to build, you can build whenever you want. Achasta Golf Club approved builders include Chris Spencer Homes, RL Wagner Custom Homes, Adamson Construction Services Inc, Hall & Trice, Innovative Building and Design Inc and New Leaf Homes. In the past, if you purchased a developer owned lot, the refundable $15k golf initiation fee was waived. Be sure to ask about that.
