The excitement is building for those who love to shuck and savor roasted oysters from the sea.  The 35th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival kicks off on Saturday, October 17th and runs through Sunday, October 18th.  This year’s event will be held in front of the Museum of Coastal Carolina on the beautiful Ocean Isle Beach. The are just two reasons Wilmington has become one of the best places to live in North Carolina by the beach.

Whether it’s roasted oysters or the fan favorite, oysters on the half shell, attendees of this popular event will get to sample a variety of recipes featuring some of the most creative ways to serve this delicacy.  Oysters aren’t the only foods festival- goers can nosh on during the well attended yearly event.  Festival vendors will also cook up other deliciously appetizing and mouth-watering cuisine in classic Southern-style.

Grab a chair, blanket and some sunscreen and sit back and take in the sounds of the live music performances during the festival. Families with young children can checkout the arts and crafts and activities specifically targeted to the children. There’s something for everyone.

Here’s a look at some exciting activities happening during the festival:
