National Geographic Magazine named Wrightsville Beach one of the World’s 20 Best Surf Towns in 2012. The beach goers paradise has miles of sandy beaches, a famous fishing pier and every type of water sport are what folks think about when they think of Wrightsville Beach. It's one of the top places to live in North Carolina because of its close proximity to downtown Wilmington. The Masonboro Inlet and Mason Inlet provide quick access to Atlantic Ocean for deep water fishing and coastal boating. The Masonboro Sound and Middle Sound are protected waterways on the west side of the barrier island. Boat ramps, sailing schools and tackle shops cater to boating enthusiasts in the Wilmington NC communities.

The island is four miles long and is a popular place for second and vacation Wrightsville Beach homes. With water all around the island, the barrier island is hot spot for SUP paddle boarding. One of the most well known North Carolina coastal communities has been hailed as “where the rich go on weekends” by The Wall Street Journal (1999) and as one of the “best places to vacation” by Money Magazine (2001). The population swells considerably in the summer months with thousands of overnight visitors and day trippers. Limited public parking keeps the transient beach traffic low. Wrightsville Beach is pet friendly.
