Published on December 12, 2016

These days, we see dining becoming an important part of the finest master planned communities. Great food and wine create an atmosphere of fun, friendship, entertainment, and laughter. Nobody does it better than The Cliffs. With 50 distinct dining experiences among the seven private communities in the Carolinas, The Cliffs has done an extraordinary job of creating a foodie culture with club members. Taking their inspiration from the classic cuisine of the South, and with locally sourced ingredients from The Cliffs' organic farm, The Cliffs chefs have an infinite culinary canvas at their fingertips.

For example, The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards isn't just a stunning lakefront neighborhood with championship golf and world class dining,  it is one of four distinct Lake Keowee communities. Three more Cliffs' mountain communities near Lake Keowee include The Cliffs at Glassy, The Cliffs Valley, The Cliffs at Mountain Park. The Cliffs at Walnut Cove is the 7th in the collection and is located in the heart of Asheville.  Each of the seven communities have their own option for dining, where residents and guests can meet for lunch, dinner or beverages. The Cliffs members have access to all seven dining venues. The Cliffs chefs prepare mouthwatering dishes throughout the year, such as Veal Marsala, Wild Mushroom Bolognese, and Duck Breast Shepherds Pie. And there is always an excellent list of salads, snacks, desserts and wines. Striving for perfection, who would ever want to dine elsewhere!

And making big news in the community this year, is The Cliffs unveiling of its own chapter of the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. The Chaine des Rotisseurs is the world’s oldest international gastronomic society. Founded in Paris in 1248, the society includes restaurateurs, executive chefs, sommeliers and individuals passionate about the culinary arts. Late this year, sixteen of The Cliffs chefs were inducted into the society, in a ceremony with a spectacular sampling of The Cliffs chefs culinary skills. The delectable celebration included such delicacies as sweet corn spoon bread with duck confit in a sour cherry reduction, grilled sous-vide octopus, fennel pollen dusted ahi tuna, caramelized scallops, cranberry fennel crepinette with smoked sweet potato and candied beets, rack of lamb with carrot and cumin puree, and foie gras ice cream with peanut brittle crumble and concord grape gel. Each course was expertly paired with a wine hand-selected by The Cliffs’ Director of Beverage, sommelier Eric Cooperman.

To further boost the foodie culture with club members, The Cliffs hosts a number of culinary events throughout the year. The Cliffs Lake Keowee communities and mountain communities enjoy cooking demonstrations and classes, regular evenings of socializing and noshing hosted by executive chefs, and the annual five-day Wine+Food Festival, which celebrates the pleasures of great food and drink.
