Big Canoe Swim Club - A Splashing Success

Adding to the long list of fun amenities at Big Canoe, this year the community added an Inflatable Water Park that is a big hit with grandparents and the kids! 

The Big Canoe Swim Club new improvements include:

  • Inflatable Water Park with slides and jungle gym
  • Resurfaced Natural Rock Slide
  • New paddle boats for Lake Petit
  • New patio furniture
  • Refinished pool
  • DJ entertainment every Saturday and on holidays

The community was bustling with excitement over the July 4th weekend as the community kicked off its first annual 5k run benefitting the local Boys and Girls Club. Big Canoe’s paved hiking trails made it easy for everyone to participate. Racers ranged from age 5 to 83 years old. Festivities included a parade with dressed up dogs and decorated bikes and a fireworks finale over the lake. Over 1,100 people attended the events during this 'Norman Rockwell-style' weekend. 

North Georgia master planned communities like Big Canoe have become very popular because they are designed to include amenities like those and many others.  For example, the Swim Club also offers so much more than water recreation.  Visitors have the options of pool or lake swimming.  The lakefront features a white sand beach perfect for volleyball, picnics and grilling with plenty of room left over for lounging and sunbathing. Arts and crafts, summer camps and many other seasonal activities and events take place at the club's pavilion. 

Located near Big Canoe’s North Gate, the Wildcat Pool and area boasts a large, 104,000-gallon, lap pool. A large recreation area near the swimming pool has basketball courts, soccer and ball fields, play equipment and bocce ball courts. 

The long list of Big Canoe amenities doesn’t end there.  Wildcat Pool also has excellent hiking and biking trails winding through the scenic grounds before bringing you back to the parking lot.  here’s a rustic stone and timber Wildcat pavilion next to the pool provides a covered area for picnicking and family celebrations of all descriptions. With all of these fun-filled daily activities at your fingertips, living at a North Georgia master planned community like Big Canoe is like living at summer camp year round. 

Along with the aforementioned list of things to do, families can spend endless hours at Gibbs Gardens, a world class destination less than 10 minutes from Big Canoe. Southern Living Magazine calls Gibbs Gardens the “Most Stunning Daffodil Garden Ever.” That’s just one of the themed blooming gardens throughout the year. The 300-acre estate has a 25-year old manor that overlooks the mountains and gardens.  Gibbs Gardens features thousands of plants, flowers and millions of bulbs that provide a way array of color, fragrances and shapes in the 16 garden venues.  The grounds also feature streams, waterfalls and 22 reflecting ponds. 

The fun at Big Canoe doesn’t only take place during the summertime.  There are year-round activities that make it an best place to live in Georgia.
