I've lived in Tellico for over 17 years and I still need to pitch myself everyday. I can't believe I live in such a great place. Everything you want to do, can be done in the village: three golf courses; several tennis and pickle ball courts; 4 restaurants, including a yacht club; a social club for any interest. Tellico is near Knoxville: and good health care; a major airport; University of Tennessee and college sports. Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, the Smokey Mountains are less than an hour away. Not to mention Nashville or Atlanta are about 3 hours away. Tellico is located near the exit where I40 and I75 intersect. Michigan, New York , Texas and Florida are all within a day's drive from Tellico. Tellico Lake is actually part of the inter-coastal. You could take your boat to Michigan or Florida from Tellico. No state income taxes in Tennessee. Our property taxes are less than one-third of what we paid in Michigan, even though our Tellico house is worth twice the value of our Michigan house. Best of all, the people in Tellico and surrounding cities of Loudon and Lenoir City are shockingly friendly, "bless their heart." I went into Lenoir City yesterday to pick-up a few groceries and the clerk gave me a personal Christmas Card. Life doesn't get any better. P.S. I forgot to mention how beautiful it is to get up in the morning, look out at the Smokey Mountains and watch some deer run through your back yard.

profound espirit d'corp among residents...helpful, outgoing, enthusiastic. Ideal location for outdoor activities...mountains, waterways, hiking trails, golf. Excellent year-round weather, again allowing outdoor activities for all but a few days. Not too big, not too small 100+ organizations and activities. Resident ownership of the community and all amenities. Developer credibility question is not applicable because of above.

Tennessee was originally not on our radar when we conducted our search for a retirement home. However, after researching and spending a sizeable amount of time in southeast coastal states, we decided to evaluate what TN had to offer. We came back 3 years in a row, visiting communities in middle and east TN and decided that the combination of beauty (water and mountains), climate and economics in the greater Knoxville area, best satisfied our needs. Upon relocating from the northeast, we originally intended to build a home in another nearby TN community. As part of our plan, we decided to rent a home in Tellico Village while conducting the building process elsewhere. Once in the village, we joined New Villagers (an outstanding organization for new residents, organzed and run by newcomers) and immediately began to appreciate not only what diverse and interesting activities were available, but more important, the quality of people who made the decision to live in the village. It readily became apparent that this was the place where we belonged. As a result, we put the brakes on the other property and built a home in Tellico Village. It has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. As a result of joining the New Villageer and HOA organizations, we have made a significant number of close friendships with people from all over the country and get to enjoy a vacation lifestyle that we have not seen anywhere else.
