One of the finest views you will find of The Smokies is visible from Rarity Bay. On the list of community attributes: championship golf, tennis, equestrian, swimming pool, fine dining and even Fido has his own doggie park at one of the prettiest Tennessee golf communities. Located in the foothills of Eastern Tennessee, the 960 acre lakefront neighborhood is surrounded by 10 miles of shoreline on 16,000 acre Tellico Lake. Buyers searching waterfront retirement communities will find many of the homes at Rarity Bay have private boat docks on the lake. Tellico Lake is one of the least polluted federally protected Tennessee lakes in the United States and the lake level only fluctuates about six feet in depth during the winter months which is great for homes with boat docks.

RARITY BAY AMENITIES

  • 24 Hour Manned Gated Entrance
  • 18 Hole Championship Golf Course designed by D.J.VeVictor and Peter Langham
  • Golf Clubhouse with Dining
  • Outdoor Swimming Pool & Tennis Courts
  • White Stables Equestrian Center
  • Walking Trails
  • Dog Park

Tellico Lake was named 'Best Eastern Tennessee Lake' by Boating Life Magazine. Winters are mild and summers cooled by the breezes rolling off The Smokies. 75% of the land around the lake is undeveloped and protected preserving its natural beauty. Reasonably close to Knoxville are big city modern conveniences and collegiate sports. Important to Baby Boomers relocating to Tennessee, it's easy to find headline entertainment, lifelong learning courses, brand name shopping and award winning medical care in Knoxville.

More than 50 social clubs are active at Rarity Bay providing residents plenty of opportunities to meet new friends and socialize; social clubs such as Dinner for Eight and the Rarity Bay Women's Club. Despite Rarity Communities' hard times of the past, a bond has been cemented among the members at one of the friendliest waterfront retirement communities in Tennessee and it's impressive.

The 18 hole golf course at Rarity Bay was designed by D.J. VeVictor and Peter Langham and has gentle rolling hills, stellar mountain views and interesting elevation fluctations on the course. Golf, tennis, fitness, a swimming pool and miles of hiking trails are inside the gates of Rarity Bay providing activities for residents to stay fit and enjoy life. Rarity Bay is also has an equestrian center providing boarding, horse pastures and trail rides to club members. Horse camps, barrel races and horse shows take place throughout the year.

There is hardly a need to leave Rarity Bay, whether you choose to live at Tennessee golf communities year round or as a second home. When the sun begins to set, make your way over to the Rarity Bay Clubhouse for a delicious dining experience. We had the pleasure of dining at the club and enjoying their smoked Prime Rib which was excellent. Prices at the Rarity Bay golf club are reasonable for lunch and dinner.

Located on one of the most beautiful Tennessee lakes facing The Smokies, to us, Rarity Bay is more relaxing than living in Knoxville. 1,600 homes are planned with approximately 450 homes built to date. Lots for sale are available in the $30k's, Rarity Bay condos for sale can be found in the mid $100k's, villas in the mid $300k's and single family homes for sale at Rarity Bay start in the mid $500k's. Rarity Bay approved builders include Greystone Construction, Heartwood Homes and Providence Builders.  All of these custom home builders are ready to make relocating to Tennessee as seemless as possible.

Our real estate score for Rarity Bay on Tellico Lake in Tennessee is 76.

When you travel to see waterfront retirement communities and Tennessee golf communities, let us know if you'd like to receive free Tellico Lake relocation information. We're happy to share our secrets with you, to make your search more enjoyable.

This is probably the most caring community I have ever seen. Not only do we care about each other, but we care about those living in the communities surrounding us. The level of volunteerism is amazing. We have an awesome well trained and super responsive group of First Responders. I know they have been responsible more than once for saving a life in our community. We also have an amazing amount of creative talent, from music, to art, to crafts, to general and inclusive socializing. No new comer to our community is allowed not to feel welcomed and invited to become an integral part of the community in whatever way they should like, given the multitude of opportunities for interaction with others living here. And finally, how can you not be happy when you wake up every morning to the beautiful mountain and lake views that abound. As a fairly serious photographer, I know that there are few places I could live that offer me the day to day opportunity to catch beauty with my camera.

Friendly community that goes out of its way for you. Love margaritas at sunset on our balcony overlooking the 18th Tee. Dinner at the Club done up like a town in France. Trailered an antique boat down one summer and our next-door neighbor gave us use of his slip for as long as we needed it. Kayaking with my wife and kids around the community always elicits waves from people relaxing on their decks and pools.

We are a true melting pot of a lot of people relocated here for their retirement. We have caring, friendly, thoughtful, helpful, concerned, willing, smiling and dedicated folks who have turned this community into a "close-knit family." They are always there to help you - no matter what it is! This brings a lot of smiles to people as they feel the warmth here at Rarity Bay. There is always someone to help around the corner, down the street or somewhere in the community with a positive attitude, a big smile and sincere commitment. Living becomes so much easier with a support group like this; people are so giving ! You are never alone to tackle something; the help is there in so many places, just for the asking! That's why we're happy & contented, too!

The views are spectacular plus it is just the right size to give a true community feel. Small enough to meet and get to know people as friends yet big enough to support numerous events, clubs and mix of people. More private being on a gate peninsula. One can drive around in his/her own golf cart. It is like being in college with spending money and no homework.

Developer Credibility

Real estate developer Michael Ross has been a celebrity in the press, however, not the kind he would want to be, I'm sure. Rarity Communities had nine golf and lake real estate developments planned in Eastern Tennessee. With financing frozen and sales almost non-existent in 2008 and 2009, Rarity Communities were plagued by bad timing, sales to investors/flippers and unrealistic optimism.

All nine Rarity Communities have either gone bankrupt or have pending foreclosures filed against them. Rarity Bay and Rarity Pointe are still operational. To ease your mind, please consult with an attorney before purchasing at Rarity Bay. Despite these issues, sales have not stopped at this beautiful Eastern Tennessee golf community.

UPDATE: In May 2015, Rarity Bay amenities including the golf course were acquired by a business partnership called Salem Pointe Capital. The sale was worth a total of $5.75 million. The purchase includes 172 lots, 11 condos, the golf course and clubhouse and 27 acres of undeveloped property.
