Tellico Lake was named 'Best Eastern Tennessee Lake' by Boating Life Magazine. When the sun begins to set, make your way over to the Rarity Bay Clubhouse for a delicious dining experience. We had the pleasure of dining at the club and enjoying their smoked Prime Rib which was excellent. Prices at the Rarity Bay golf club are reasonable for lunch and dinner. 

Located on one of the most beautiful Tennessee lakes facing The Smokies, to us, Rarity Bay is more relaxing than living in Knoxville. 1,600 homes are planned with approximately 450 homes built to date. Lots for sale are available in the $30k's, Rarity Bay condos for sale can be found in the mid $100k's, villas in the mid $300k's and single family homes for sale at Rarity Bay start in the mid $500k's. There is no developer right now. This is a POA run Community. We have more close friends here than anywhere else we have ever lived. The residents come from a variety of locations around the country and have many different backgrounds and experiences. It is this variety that makes for a fun and interesting community. Whether your interest is equestrian, boating, golf, tennis, gardening, cards, spiritual fellowship, etc., etc.; there is an amenity at Rarity Bay that will make you happy. This is a community where neighbors supporting neighbors is a way of life. Come on down! We'll leave the light on for you.

I have lived in this community from the time they cut their very first roads and formed their womens club and watched it grow into a warm loving, caring community. The neighbors not only look out for and help one another, and socialize with one another, but they reach out to the surrounding communities to help the less fortunate.....it is a place that is extra special.....there are few places like this left on earth that are not only an attractive community, but actually have heart.....

The people in Rarity Bay are the best!! Our residents represent all areas of the United States. Everyone feels included in our many social activities. We have numerous clubs and sport opportunities. We have residents who come from all regions of the country. Our women's club is the best! From personal experience I know that when a resident needs help or support there is an unbelievable response from the community. After living here for several years I know I could never find another community as caring as Rarity Bay! We are now managed by our own member elected board instead of by the developer.

Real estate developer Michael Ross has been a celebrity in the press, however, not the kind he would want to be, I'm sure. Rarity Communities had nine golf and lake real estate developments planned in Eastern Tennessee. With financing frozen and sales almost non-existent in 2008 and 2009, Rarity Communities were plagued by bad timing, sales to investors/flippers and unrealistic optimism.

All nine Rarity Communities have either gone bankrupt or have pending foreclosures filed against them. Rarity Bay and Rarity Pointe are still operational. To ease your mind, please consult with an attorney before purchasing at Rarity Bay. Despite these issues, sales have not stopped at this beautiful Eastern Tennessee golf community.

UPDATE: In May 2015, Rarity Bay amenities including the golf course were acquired by a business partnership called Salem Pointe Capital. The sale was worth a total of $5.75 million. The purchase includes 172 lots, 11 condos, the golf course and clubhouse and 27 acres of undeveloped property.
