Donald Sedivy, Executive Chef at the Currahee Club on Lake Hartwell in Toccoa, GA was recently inducted into the American Academy of Chefs® (AAC), the honor society of the American Culinary Federation (ACF), and the leading membership organization for chefs and culinary professionals in North America. The AAC recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to both the culinary profession and ACF. Only sixteen chefs from across the Nation and around the World were inducted as AAC Fellows recently, during the Cook. Craft. Create. ACF Annual National Convention & Show.

To become an AAC member, chefs must be nominated by two current AAC members, have a minimum of 15 years of culinary experience and be an ACF-certified chef. Candidates are required to demonstrate their commitment to the culinary profession by serving in leadership positions, supporting professional development of other culinarians and participating in community service activities. Chef Donald has now joined over 800 other chefs who already belong to the AAC.

Currahee Club’s President, Andrew Ward, and Director of Food and Beverage Monica Kendrick accompanied Chef Donald and his wife Barb, to the ACF Conference to see him collect his prestigious award. “It was a stunning affair acclaimed Ward, with lots of formality and regalia. We are really proud that our Chef has been awarded this rare recognition and are thrilled to have him working here at Currahee leading our culinary team in the kitchens. Chef Donald came to us with a wealth of national level experience and his keen interest in training staff and performing his craft hands on with our team, is what first attracted us to hire him, and a key reason why we enjoy working with him so much. Tremendous food is of course the bonus!” concluded Ward.

When asked how Donald felt about his award he shared “It is an absolute honor to join the other members of the AAC that have come before me, and I am proud to promote this organizations principals as I continue on my journey here at the Currahee Club, and put into practice every day what I have learned throughout my career.

The AAC legacy focuses on giving back to others. AAC members work tirelessly to promote the education of all culinarians by awarding student scholarships, providing educational grants to professional working chefs and mentoring culinarians at all levels.
