Climate Information for Top Retirement Towns & Cities

Mild Weather

When the last burnt orange leaf falls gently to the ground, the nights begin to get colder and shorter. Folks in the Northeast knowing they will be snowed in for the winter, begin their quest once again searching for the right place to live during retirement, longing for better weather. And where is Eden these days? Is it in the mountains, on a lake or near the coast?

To make it more confusing, Mother Nature throws in a wrench to stir things up, scaring us into analysis paralysis. Twisting up tornados, blowing forceful hurricanes onto shore or flooding low lying areas. A frigid ice storm quickly Northerner's back into reality and their diligent search in the Southeast begins once again. Some of us seek beautiful coastal beaches, while others look for a log cabin perched in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

No one place fits all. However, one comment we hear that is universal - retirees want no snow or very little of it. We agree and this is why our expertise is on master planned communities in the Southeast; the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The Southeast is where the majority of Baby Boomers who plan to relocate, are expected to move over the next 10 years. Each place in the Southeast has pluses, minuses and hazards to consider.

When you search the web, you will find all kinds of graphs and charts with weather information. The high's and low's month by month. Humidity, snowfall and the amount of sunny days. I have visited many of these type of websites and can't find a website with consistent data in the Southeast which makes any sense.

I choose to present weather by season because I feel this better represents the annual weather patterns for the areas. I pointed out appealing weather attributes and weather hazards, all in an effort to help you. Weather information is provided for the best states to retire in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, our areas of focus.

Wishing you warm sunny days, Margie Casey Founder
