Lake Glenville was born in 1941 by the damming of the west fork of the Tuckasegee River, creating the highest and largest lake east of the Mississippi with depths of over 100 feet.  This 1,400 acre lake sports 26 miles of shoreline and is a water playground that provides scores of recreation for the area including boating, waterskiing, and fishing.  Nearby Cashiers, “the Yosemite of the East” is known for tumbling waterfalls such as 411 foot Whitewater, novel high altitude bogs, sheer granite domes and lush valley floors sure to please the nature enthusiast.
