At the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and near a Blue Ridge Parkway entrance, you'll find one of the first North Carolina mountain communities in Waynesville. The development began in 1986. In June 2009, Laurel Ridge Country Club opened a new 19,000 square foot clubhouse which is now the social hub of the golf community. Classic timber frame architecture reflects vaulted ceilings, massive chandeliers and expansive windows showcasing long range views of one of the area's best golf course communities.

The clubhouse offers formal and casual dining inside and out from May through October. Pavilion on the Knoll is a 6,000 square foot post and beam community pavilion connected to the clubhouse, where neighbors meet to watch sporting events, grab a cocktail and warm up by the wood burning fireplace. Men's and ladies locker rooms and a stocked golf pro shop are more clubhouse attributes. Ranch-style homes are located in the valley and mountain homes hug the mountain. As the road winds up through the 858 acre neighborhood, elevations reaching as high as 4,000 feet. Homes built on the mountainside provide breath taking panoramic views of the Great Smoky Mountains and Mt. Pisgah. You will find a mix of older and new homes at Laurel Ridge Country Club. In the center of the community is a 150 acre community garden and greenhouse. It's one of the most beautiful North Carolina mountain communities in Waynesville.

The golf course at Laurel Ridge Country Club was awarded the Most Challenging Golf Course in 2005 by the Asheville Citizen Times. In the same year, Readers Choice of Haywood selected Laurel Ridge Country Club as the Best Golf Course of 2005. Designed by Bob Cupp, the golf course was designed in harmony preserving the picturesque views, including challenging mountain inclines yet providing enough easy play to balance the golf experience. In Cupp's words about the Laurel Ridge golf course "If the player sees the shot, they will remember it. My goal is for the players to remember their game." Some golfers claim its one of the best golf course communities in Western North Carolina.

Lot sizes range from 1 to over 3 acres. There is no time requirement to build. Approximately 120 homes have been built. Laurel Ridge Country Club has an active social events calendar which includes golf tournaments, tennis socials and dining events from May through October.

The community's proximity to downtown provides quick access to restaurants, festivals, shopping in Waynesville and quick highway access to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
