The Ascot ClubWestern North Carolina
Only five miles from the heart of downtown Waynesville and Main Street, one of the earlier established North Carolina mountain communities was once known as Highland Forest. Still in a holding pattern, not much has happened in the last four years other than the renovation of the community's planned clubhouse. It's hard to argue, the views from the neighborhood are impressive facing towards Maggie Valley and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Buyers searching for Waynesville NC real estate with high elevations will find them here at The Ascot Club, climbing from 3,400 feet to over 5,700.
THE ASCOT CLUB AMENITIES
- Gated Entrance
- 12,000 Square Foot Clubhouse
The Ascot Clubhouse has been undergoing renovation. The 12,000 square foot lodge is planned to include a restaurant, bar, fitness center and indoor swimming pool. The back stone patio and firepit over looks long range layered mountain views to the west. The clubhouse was scheduled to open in 2011. As of February 2015, the clubhouse is not open for use near the community's mountain vacation homes. Also in the planning stages were tennis courts and trout ponds at the base of the Waynesville NC real estate development.
American Craftsman architecture is the theme already present with approximately seven mountain vacation homes built. New cottage homes for sale at The Ascot Club and villas are planned, approximately 200 homes in all. If you'd rather build a home, lots for sale may be available ranging from 1 to 4 acres. Not all the roads are paved, so we are uncertain how far underground utilities extend to. Buyers searching for Waynesville NC real estate will want to verify this information and that the lots are platted, before you buy mountain vacation homes here. We're anxious to see how one of the few North Carolina mountain communities in Waynesville unfolds.
Ascot Club is just five minutes from one of the best mountain towns in North Carolina, making it a great location for property owners who enjoy frequent dining out and shopping on Main Street. We will keep you posted on The Ascot Club's progress.

According to the developer, The Ascot Club at Highland Forest is privately owned by Highland Forest Partners, LLC, which acquired the development from a Florida developer in 2007. In mid 2008, The Ascot Club at Highland Forest was marketed by the Preserve Communities LLC who represented a number of North Carolina mountain communities in the Asheville area. In 2009, that relationship ceased.
When the real estate market improves, The Ascot Club / Highland Forest plans to handle sales and marketing inhouse. In the meantime, the current developer has been actively constructing the anchor amenities, such as the clubhouse and greeter’s cottage, and has now moved on to constructing model cottages and villas.
