One of the finest views you will find of The Smokies is visible from Rarity Bay. On the list of community attributes: championship golf, tennis, equestrian, swimming pool, fine dining and even Fido has his own doggie park at one of the prettiest Tennessee golf communities. Located in the foothills of Eastern Tennessee, the 960 acre lakefront neighborhood is surrounded by 10 miles of shoreline on 16,000 acre Tellico Lake. Buyers searching waterfront retirement communities will find many of the homes at Rarity Bay have private boat docks on the lake. Tellico Lake is one of the least polluted federally protected Tennessee lakes in the United States and the lake level only fluctuates about six feet in depth during the winter months which is great for homes with boat docks.

RARITY BAY AMENITIES

  • 24 Hour Manned Gated Entrance
  • 18 Hole Championship Golf Course designed by D.J.VeVictor and Peter Langham
  • Golf Clubhouse with Dining
  • Outdoor Swimming Pool & 2 Tennis Courts
  • 4 Pickleball Courts
  • White Stables Equestrian Center
  • Walking Trails
  • Dog Park

Tellico Lake was named 'Best Eastern Tennessee Lake' by Boating Life Magazine. Winters are mild and summers cooled by the breezes rolling off The Smokies. 75% of the land around the lake is undeveloped and protected preserving its natural beauty. Reasonably close to Knoxville are big city modern conveniences and collegiate sports. Important to Baby Boomers relocating to Tennessee, it's easy to find headline entertainment, lifelong learning courses, brand name shopping and award winning medical care in Knoxville.

More than 50 social clubs are active at Rarity Bay providing residents plenty of opportunities to meet new friends and socialize; social clubs such as Dinner for Eight and the Rarity Bay Women's Club. Despite Rarity Communities' hard times of the past, a bond has been cemented among the members at one of the friendliest waterfront retirement communities in Tennessee and it's impressive.

The 18 hole golf course at Rarity Bay was designed by D.J. VeVictor and Peter Langham and has gentle rolling hills, stellar mountain views and interesting elevation fluctations on the course. Golf, tennis, fitness, a swimming pool and miles of hiking trails are inside the gates of Rarity Bay providing activities for residents to stay fit and enjoy life. Rarity Bay is also has an equestrian center providing boarding, horse pastures and trail rides to club members. Horse camps, barrel races and horse shows take place throughout the year.

There is hardly a need to leave Rarity Bay, whether you choose to live at Tennessee golf communities year round or as a second home. When the sun begins to set, make your way over to the Rarity Bay Clubhouse for a delicious dining experience. We had the pleasure of dining at the club and enjoying their smoked Prime Rib which was excellent. Prices at the Rarity Bay golf club are reasonable for lunch and dinner.

Located on one of the most beautiful Tennessee lakes facing The Smokies, to us, Rarity Bay is more relaxing than living in Knoxville. 1,600 homes are planned with approximately 450 homes built to date. Lots for sale are available in the $30k's, Rarity Bay condos for sale can be found in the mid $100k's, villas in the mid $300k's and single family homes for sale at Rarity Bay start in the mid $500k's. Rarity Bay approved builders include Greystone Construction, Heartwood Homes and Providence Builders.  All of these custom home builders are ready to make relocating to Tennessee as seemless as possible.

Our real estate score for Rarity Bay on Tellico Lake in Tennessee is 76.

Rarity Bay is located on a peninsula the juts out into Lake Tellico. It is the most beautiful location I've come across in my over 60 years of living in Tennessee. The people are from every part of the United States. It is a friendly, caring community. I have lived here for over 15 years and plan to stay as long as my health allows.

The wonderful VOLUNTEER spirit is prevalent in this spot of heaven at the foothills of the Smokies. Living and playing at Rarity Bay makes all better people and provides a fantastic and fun place for friends and family...not to mention our Friday afternoon Yappy Hours with our dogs.

Because the people of Rarity Bay are the most friendly we have ever found. We made more friends at Rarity Bay in about 5 months than we did in over 13 years of owning in a nearby community.

I lived alone before I purchased a home in Rarity Bay. I still live alone, but am no longer lonely. I have been included in so many activities. I am now again using my brain and social skills. I have some kind of activity to look forward each day if I choose. I am so happy here.

The size of Rarity Bay and it being a gated community give it the perfect feel. It is also provides the most beautiful/spectacular views I have ever seen. It is big enough to offer a large variety of activities and people to socialize with yet small enough to get to know people. I love it!

We've been living here in Rarity Bay since 2000 and have been extremely happy since the day we moved into our new house. Our neighbors here at the Bay surround us with talented, friendly and helpful people who have moved from all parts of the USA. We always say that if you can't keep busy here, than you aren't trying. Plenty to do and see in this beautiful part of Tennessee. If you like horses, enjoy sailing or playing golf on one of the most beautiful courses in Tennessee, than this is the standout property in the area. My wife and I often say that if we went back 13 years ago and looked ahead to today, we would be so pleasantly happy and satisfied with our decision to move here at Rarity Bay.

Of all the gated communities we visited, Rarity Bay is definitely the friendliest. Maybe it's because everybody relocated here from somewhere in the U.S. Regardless, everybody learns the name of all the residents within several months due to the numerous, daily social activities. Although primarily a retirement community, we have had some folks pass away. And perhaps the greatest statement of all about Rarity Bay is that the remaining spouse stays. And that's due to the incredible support system.

My husband I moved here from a 55+ community in Northern Virginia. After living in multiple states over the course of a lifetime, I find the scenery here to be breathtaking. But what is indescribable are the sounds, or lack thereof. If you are looking for beauty and serenity, Rarity Bay should be a place to seriously consider. And did I say, the people are warm and friendly.
