George P. Mitchell, a Greek-American oilman and his family developed Bald Head Island. In 1983, Mitchell and his family formed Bald Head Island Ltd., which purchased the island from Walter Davis and James Herrington. The company quickly embarked on developing Bald Head as a residential resort.
