The community docks overlook Battery Creek’s expansive tidal marshes and are available for all residents to use. Bridges over the marsh’s channels connect Belle Grove to both Cotton Island and Deer Island, and downtown Beaufort is only 11 minutes away. The beaches of Fripp are about another 30 minute drive east. Beaufort is one of a very few U.S. towns that has had its entire downtown designated as a historic district by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. From bed & breakfast to hotels, inns, and vacation rentals – visitors can easily find accommodations to suit any taste around Beaufort and the Sea Islands South Carolina.

Gorgeous mansions built by wealthy plantation owners prior to the Civil War are the likely reason Beaufort was one of the only Southern towns lucky enough to be chosen by Union troops for occupation instead of burning it to the ground like they did to so many others. Of more than 50 historic structures that have been identified in Beaufort, many are charming private homes which have been restored and made available for public viewing. These professionally-guided walking, bus, or horse-drawn carriage tours are especially prevalent during special spring and fall events which offer both locals and tourists the chance to tour numerous private homes and gardens.

Hunting Island is coastal South Carolina’s most popular state park with five miles of beaches near Fripp and attracts over one million visitors each year to the Sea Islands South Carolina. The wildlife is spectacular, and ranges from barracudas, dolphins, sea horses, and loggerhead sea turtles to deer, painted buntings, pelicans, and raccoons. Hunting Island State Park boasts thousands of acres of marsh, as well as tidal creeks, maritime forest, a saltwater lagoon and ocean inlet; its amenities include a fishing pier and some campsites. Also within the Park you’ll find South Carolina’s only publicly accessible historic lighthouse. The Hunting Island Lighthouse dates back to the 1870s, and stands 170 feet tall. Climbing to the top offers a marvelous view of both the surrounding Lowcountry marshland and Atlantic Ocean.

The closest, best schools to the Islands of Beaufort are Port Royal Elementary School and Beaufort Middle School. For higher education, the nearby University of South Carolina Beaufort's Historic Beaufort Campus is on the banks of the Intracoastal Waterway in downtown Beaufort. This is a four-year university which offers undergraduate programs of study to around 1500 students. The University of South Carolina Beaufort's Hilton Head Gateway Campus is also located nearby.

HOA/Management has caused the stagnation and reduction in property values. Very anti-children/families. Mismanaged dues repeatedly. Very combative and off putting. Score should be more like a 28 not 82.

Great neighborhood for the 55 to 68 year ages. Not for the 70+ ages. Have lived in more upscale communities so it may be unfair for me to judge.

Extremely high HOA fees. Developer's rules & regulations prevents new building growth due to limited builder opportunities.
