Hilton Head Lakes is a friendly community with almost a dozen active social clubs such as a book club, golf league, Knits Wits, Ladies Luncheons, Men's Poker, Mexican Dominos and Zumba fitness classes.

Of the 4,600 acres, 435 acres have been protected as a nature preserve at this Low Country real estate development. 12 miles of walking and bicycle trails weave through the north and south neighborhoods. This gated community has an open air and spacious feeling about it. Neighborhood streets lead to charming cul-de-sacs. Of the 1,800 homes planned, approximately 115 homes at Hilton Head Lakes have been built to date at one of the newest golf communities in South Carolina. 

California based and publically traded Benchmark Communities acquired Citizen Homes in 2014. Citizen Homes was the most popular home builder at Hilton Head Lakes. Lowcountry cottage homes start at 1,300 square feet and prices begin in the low $200K's. Lots for sale at Hilton Head Lakes can be found in beginning in the $50K's and the developer offers in house financing. Buyers will be hard pressed to find a more affordable new, gated community of this caliber in this region. New shopping centers and retail businesses continue to open along the Highway 278 growth corridor and next to Hilton Head Lakes. Baby Boomers in particular will appreciate Coastal Carolina Hospital being only 3 miles away.

Hilton Head Lakes is the friendliest community in which we've ever resided. To site our experience with others, we were having 14 visitors come for a week and a resident we had just met offered to loan us some extra patio furniture. Not only did they loan it to us, they delivered it. We're truly happy we chose here. We are away from the large crowds and traffic during the peak season, yet Hilton Head Island and Savannah are just a short distance away.

The development in my opinion is the best in the area. Living on the water surrounded by trees is a paradise for fisherman and boaters. We meet new friends all the time. It's close to the beach, close to historic towns and not far from Charleston. We have easy highway access. This is a "blissful" place for us to live!

From the impressive entrance with cascading waterfalls to the tree lined streets, we have found a community that meets all our needs. Our pontoon boat is tied up to our pier ready to take us to the amenity center to work out, or relax and have a barbecue. Everyone here is friendly. We looked at a lot of communities before picking HHL. This is the best value and lifestyle in our opinion.

We find the community to be a quiet place to retire in short range of all amenities necessary and fun. The developers have been a delight to work with. All questions get answered without hesitation and the custom builders are outstanding craftsman. We chose the community because of its proximity to shopping and continuing education opportunities. We found the low overhead approach exactly to our liking as many communities have lavish clubhouses with restaurants. We were concerned about the ability of the homeowners to keep pace with ever increasing dues. The developers were wise by choosing not to get into financial hot water with outlandish expenditures that ultimately leads to the homeowners bearing the burden. We enthusiastically support the community.
