Located upstream from Goose Creek State Park and off the Pamlico Sound is a charming boating and golf neighborhood named Cypress Landing on Chocowinity Bay. Developed in the early 1990's, one of the friendliest coastal retirement communities is just 8 miles from America's first city named after America's first president, Washington.

One of the few North Carolina coastal communities with a deepwater marina comprises of 750 acres and approximately 600 homes have been built to date of the 720 planned. Lowcountry style homes and traditional American brick are the architectural styles. Winding roads lead to welcoming cul-de-sacs. Tall trees and lakes accented with fountains add to the neighborhood's curb appeal. The 9,000 square foot Cypress Landing Yacht Clubhouse is impressive along with its deepwater marina on the Pamlico River.

Cypress Landing Golf Club is the community's 18 hole championship golf course designed by William R. Love. The golf course is semi-private and property owners are not required to join the club. Additional amenities include four lighted tennis courts across from the golf clubhouse. HOA fees are $1,224 annually and include membership to the pools, Bay Club, Tennis and Health and Fitness Center which is a great value to the community. Residents participate in more than 22 social clubs which include Master Gardeners, Supper Clubs, Singles Groups and the Red Hat Society.

Buyers searching for coastal retirement communities and New Bern NC golf courses without expensive club dues and away from metropolitan life, will find Cypress Landing a more laid back place to live. Families are attracted to the area because of the good schools. Single family homes for sale at Cypress Landing start around $250k and lots for sale at Cypress Landing can be found starting around $50k. Choices include homes on large wooded lots or smaller foot print homes near the golf club.

Washington Montessori, John C Tayloe Elementary and Beaufort County Early College High School are nearby best schools. Greenville NC is a larger city 30 minutes west where residents can access brand label shopping, award winning medical care and the Pitt-Greenville Airport.

The amenities are superb and the folks who live here are friendly, educated and talented! Not only is Cypress Landing on the water, the community is 10 minutes from the charming waterfront town of Washington (also known as the "original" Washington or "Little Washington"). This quaint town is picturesque with the Pamlico River ambling out to the Pamlico Sound and Intercoastal waterway. Charming B & B, historic buildings and churches, antique shops etc.

Property Owner Reviews

Property Owner: Tadd
We came to Cypress Landing to buy a slip only. Every single person we met during that process was so outgoing & welcoming that we became excited about the entire community. All of the facilities (Bay Club, marina, golf course, main pool, Iris Lounge, recreation center, lap pool & others) were in immaculate condition. So we bought both a slip and a lot to eventually build our retirement home on. We started attending the numerous social functions & frequented the Bay Club even in the non-boating season. The more we came here, the deeper the friendships became. So just three years after buying the slip, we happily decided to buy an existing home and moved here permanently this past summer. The amenities couldn't have driven us to change our plans so drastically (I actually commute 146 miles round trip each day to work), but it is the amenities that facilitate the friendly social atmosphere and provide the venue for developing wonderful and numerous friends. After 25 years in NC, I now feel I'm at home.

Everyone is so friendly. We moved here in June 2017 and have met so many new friends. The second day we were here, folks brought over a bottle of wine and two prepared meals which we greatly appreciated after 10 hours of unpacking boxes. We have been invited to attend numerous social events. folks have given us tickets to a play at ECU they could not attend. We walk on the streets almost every day and as we meet cars or others walking they either wave or stop to talk. I have moved numerous times, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, South Carolina, Virginia and North Carolina and this is the most friendly and happiest place I have lived!!!

Cypress Landing is just a remarkable place to live, the people are friendly. The amenities are terrific. The surrounding areas have things to discover that you would not have imagined could be here. The weather is very appealing, Carolina Blue skies most days, and even on days were its not quite perfect is a thousand percent better than Freezing Cold and Snow... The Community is well managed and the HOA Fee is reasonable, here the Common Area landscaping, Pools, Fitness Center, Tennis Courts and The Bay Club are all included in the HOA Fee, that is less than the cost of a Health Cub membership alone in the Boston Area. We also have a Private Marina on Chocowinity Bay / Pamlico Sound, and a Challenging 18 Hole Golf course. The Taxes are low and you get to drive on great roads and minimal Traffic. We also have easy access to "State of the Art" health care in the area at the Vident Medical Center. Let’s just say you can’t understand how great this area is until you experience it.

No one has an axe to grind. We wave to each other: cars to walkers and vice versa. Potluck suppers, golf and marina get-togethers keep newcomers and long-time residents in touch.
