Located upstream from Goose Creek State Park and off the Pamlico Sound is a charming boating and golf neighborhood named Cypress Landing on Chocowinity Bay. Developed in the early 1990's, one of the friendliest coastal retirement communities is just 8 miles from America's first city named after America's first president, Washington.

One of the few North Carolina coastal communities with a deepwater marina comprises of 750 acres and approximately 600 homes have been built to date of the 720 planned. Lowcountry style homes and traditional American brick are the architectural styles. Winding roads lead to welcoming cul-de-sacs. The 9,000 square foot Cypress Landing Yacht Clubhouse offers soothing views overlooking the water, upstream from the Pamlico Sound. The 221 boat slips can accommodate boats up to 42 feet. Boat slips can be purchased through a 99 year lease. Amenities include a resort-style swimming pool, fitness center and bar. Cypress Landing Golf Club is the community's 18 hole championship golf course designed by William R. Love. The golf course is semi-private and property owners are not required to join the club. Additional amenities include four lighted tennis courts across from the golf clubhouse. HOA fees are $1,224 annually and include membership to the pools, Bay Club, Tennis and Health and Fitness Center which is a great value to the community. Residents participate in more than 22 social clubs which include Master Gardeners, Supper Clubs, Singles Groups and the Red Hat Society.

Good neighbors. Amenities: golf course, 2 swimming pools, gym, marina with dock master, excellent medical facilities within 10 minutes and a major medical system within a half hour. Restaurants within a few minutes, and a golf grill and a clubhouse in the community.

This was the best decision we could ever have made. We drew a matrix of what we wanted, i.e. medical, transportation, weather, water, etc. We wanted a marina with floating docks and a playable golf course, not some tricked up thing with a famous name attached to it. That was almost twenty years ago an we have not been disappointed. We have watched CL grow into a close and caring community. Several newer arrivals have mentioned that when they turned into the main entrance they looked at each other and said "I think this is going to be the spot" The golf course is great and we never get tired of playing it. You will love this place!

Weather is seldom a issue for boating on the Potomac River and we have a beautiful golf course with Audubon sanctuary rating. In addition we have tennis, walking trails, fitness center and two swimming pools. Residents are multicultural and of a wide age range. Some have children and some still work. Volunteer participation is very high, we are friendly, caring and multi-talented. We are community managed with dues comparing very favorably with other communities. We are not a gated community so we do not own street maintenance, the water/sewer system or lighting. Police protection is outstanding and the crime rate is virtually non existent. All properties and common areas are attractive and in good repair. Undeveloped lots are not random and are mowed each autumn to remove underbrush. We have no traffic issues. We are ideally situated within close proximity to New Bern,Washington and Greenville with its outstanding medical center, East Carolina Univ., and shopping. The triangle is an easy 2 hrs away that offers just about anything else one would need. Washington has a thriving arts community, owns a restored theater and provides a range of high quality performances. If this mix of criteria are important to you, you will likely not find it anywhere else; least not in NC.

The people here come all parts of North America and quite a few have lived all over the world. Their back grounds and interest expand others to explore outside opportunities, from hobbies, volunteering, sports, cooking to international travel. There are three local clubs for kayaking, camping and out door activities. Plenty of places to boat, sail and fish. We've enjoyed a 5 day sail on our neighbor's boat around the Inner Banks of North Carolina. Meeting the local people, visiting their towns and enjoying their restaurants. My wife and I moved here to boat, but since we arrived we have taken up golf, and are active in our community and local charities. We have traveled with new friends in the United States and Europe. In our working lives we had many friends and travel with 12 couples. We thought we would never have friends like them again. Here we have been to Europe with 3 other couples who have lived there, from our community, and travel to Ocracoke, NC with over 50 couples from this community for their 3 day music festival. We have done several over night cruises with other boats from our community and are active in clubs and charities from around the area. The natives of North Carolina are welcoming and friendly were ever you go in this great state. Although some places are better than others, you can not go too far wrong picking North Carolina as a place to live. I highly recommend you look at Cypress Landing in your search for your perfect spot to put down roots.
