Barber Creek Land Company LLC, a Georgia limited liability company, began construction on The Georgia Club in 2001, led by CEO Jim Vanden Berg. Community amenities are built and the golf club plans to turn private in 2013. We found no negative news on the internet about the Athens GA real estate developer or The Georgia Club.
Update 9/22/2011: The Georgia Club had been turned back over to the bank. Financing was not renewed by the Anglo Irish Bank Co which was taken over by the Irish government who required U.S. assets to be sold. The Georgia Club was purchased for $10 million by Alvarez & Marsal Capital Real Estate LLC, KRE Capital and their partners. The Georgia Club is now a debt free Georgia golf community.
