Tennessee National Marina Breaks Ground

Tennessee National Marina Village
Published on April 14, 2015

Big changes are underway and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Completion of the first phase of construction of the Tennessee National Marina near Knoxville is slated for July 2015.  That’s great news for Baby Boomers relocating to Tennessee who are exploring popular waterfront retirement communities on Watts Bar Lake. The new marina amenities will include:

  • Up to 50 boat slips
  • Community boat dock
  • Water and electrical service
  • Shoreline-walking path that ties into Tennessee National’s overall trail systems.

Once construction of the Tennessee National Marina is completed, boaters will be able to easily access the lake to enjoy bass fishing, water skiing, sailing or a picnic on one of the pristine islands in the middle of the lake. UT Vols fans will be able to cruise to Knoxville on the Tennessee River system for fun-filled game day adorned in orange. The river system has nine TVA damns in total and allows boaters to navigate all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico.

Future phases of the Marina Village project are planned to include the construction of a marina park and amphitheater, restaurant, pavilion, play fields, fishing area and provisions store.

Folks looking for at waterfront retirement communities won’t want to miss seeing Tennessee National. It is a private, lakefront golf community that boasts an attractive Greg Norman Signature Golf Course. Whether you’re an avid golfer or a non-golfing property owner, the spectacular beauty of that course is very much part of what makes Tennessee National a special community. Set on the grounds of an old farm, the well-manicured course connects the farm fields and meadows to the waterfront and wooded ridge vistas. Many homes are either directly on the course and or have dramatic views of it from the hill top. But regardless of your home location, every property owner can enjoy the walking trails that share the cart paths through some of the most scenic parts of Tennessee National on Watts Bar Lake. The gated community is also home to a swimming pool complex complete with a large saltwater pool, in-ground spa, sun deck, changing rooms and an outdoor grilling area.

Watts Bar Lake real estate is home to flourishing several waterfront retirement communities. Tennessee National is the most well known. There are so many pristine lakes in the East Tennessee area, that even on the busiest holiday weekends, the lakes aren’t crowded. Norris Lake, Tellico Lake and Fort Loudon Lake are also nearby.

Even if you’re not a boater, relocating to Tennessee is still a great idea. Tennessee has no state income tax and the cost of living is 10-15% lower than the U.S average. Watts Bar Lake real estate developments in Eastern Tennessee also enjoy a mild climate with four distinct seasons.

In retirement, folks are likely to have more time to spend on their hands to venture off into the city. Knoxville, Tennessee is only 20 minutes away and has one of the highest number of restaurants per capita in the nation. Bon appetite! On the way, stop in at Turkey Creek on Interstate 75. The $400 million upscale shopping complex spreads across 3 miles and has over 800,000 square feet of shopping. If they don’t have, it probably doesn’t exist.
