One singular sensation is happening at one of top Eastern Tennessee communities this year. On October 16, 2014 , the residents and actors of Tellico Village will meet for the soft opening of the new community playhouse in Loudon, Tennessee. Construction began the first week of July and the Tellico Village social clubs and residents are looking forward to seeing more plays and concerts in the shiny new establishment. The Tellico Community Playhouse will be located to the right of Classicos Restaurant in Loudon and will have a slew of new amenities for the actors, crew and audiences.

Complete with more seating, a cozy lobby, dressing room and ample space for audience members to explore during intermission, the playhouse is another example of enhancements in the community. The playhouse is almost complete! The Tellico Community Players keep the community and fellow Tellico Village social clubs informed and involved with print advertising, their very own website and through word of mouth. Their dedication to express their creativity and entertain the community has been welcomed at Tellico Village since the very beginning.

In 1990, the Tellico Community Players was created with a few residents who all shared a passion for the theatre. John Sullivan and his sister-in-law were the original founders of this social group in one of the best places to live near Knoxville. The first production was held at the Tellico Village Yacht Club and, soon, others joined to create a non-profit organization of amateur actors and actresses. Since 1991, the Tellico Players organized yearly productions and eventually wrote a charter and elected officers. Now, the Tellico Community Players perform on a regular basis in different venues around Loudon, tour elementary schools to show off their acting chops and organize workshops and classes for those who want to test their theatre skills. For those that long for the spotlight and applause, this is where to retire in Tennessee!

The Tellico Community Players have recruited many retirees who love to make their audiences laugh and giggle, but Baby Boomers are always smiling when they retire to this lovely place. There are a variety of Tellico Village social clubs to choose from in 2014. There are more than 60 social clubs and group organizations that are available to the 7,000 residents at Tellico Village. From beading to kayaking clubs, art guilds to Monday Painting, this community promotes friendships and provides positive outlets for people in their Golden Years.

For those interested in individual activities and amenities offered at one of the best places to live near Knoxville, Tellico Village is only 31 miles away from downtown Knoxville and a short drive to local shopping areas, medical facilities and hiking trails in the Smoky Mountains. Three private championship golf courses are available to Tellico Village residents and members, and a 26,000 sq. ft. Wellness Center can be accessed regularly.
