Spinx Carolina Marathon Comes to Greenville in October

Greenville SC Marathons
Published on August 14, 2014

Baby Boomers in the 21st Century have changed the way they view aging, many are choosing running shoes over rocking chairs!  Instead of "porch sitting", many over 50 have opted for running to the sounds of rock bands, even running marathons in all 50 states while enjoying the food and the festivities these events offer.  Seniors have chosen to "stop the clock" on aging by running their way to better health.  Not only is it a great way to keep your waistline trim and your heart healthy, running also improves stamina, boosts confidence, reduces the risk of age related illness,  relieves stress, keeps you mentally alert and it actually can change your mind set often referred to as the "runner's high".

If you're looking for a challenge this Fall while enjoying the coolest town in America, check out the Spinx Carolina Marathon through the Swamp Rabbit Trail (SRT) in Greenville, South Carolina on October 25, 2014.  The SRT is a "rails to trails" greenway connecting downtown Greenville and Travelers Rest located north of the City.  The Swamp Rabbit Trial was created by the Greenville County Council who purchased the old rail bed and decided to improve the community by creating this incredible trail which loops along the Reedy River.  The Spinx Carolina Marathon is one of the few marathons in that state and covers 26.2 miles of gentle grades along with scenic views of the Furman University campus which is part of the course.  If a full marathon is too much for you, you might want to try the "Run Town USA", half-marathon, the "Downtown 10K" or the "Big Punkin 5K" (walkers and kids welcome) which are also offered at this event.

After participating in the Spinx Run Fest, you must take the time to check out some of the gated communities near Greenville, SC.  If you are looking for that perfect place to retire or a second home,  Lake Keowee real estate developments offer resort living in close proximity to Greenville.
