FUN THINGS TO DO IN ASHEVILLE

With spring just around the corner, now is a great time to consider living in the majestic mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.  The seasonably comfortable temperatures year round provide Western North Carolina a wonderful four season climate. More than one million guests reportedly visit America’s largest private residence each year. The 8,000 acre Biltmore Estate was built George Vanderbilt back in 1895.

It’s one of the area’s most popular attractions among residents of North Carolina’s mountain retirement communities. Conveniently located in one of the best neighborhoods in Asheville, shoppers with upscale taste are often drawn to Biltmore Village located on Hendersonville Road.

Ask anyone who’s visited the village and they’ll agree that it is a one of a kind shopping and dinning experience. And locals aren’t the only ones who rave about it. Visitors love it too.  It’s not just the shops and restaurants that make this retail haven so attractive. It’s charm and architectural design make it a must see destination, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s located in one of the best neighborhoods in Asheville on the south side of Asheville.

National retail stores, as well as several independent shops and boutiques can be found there. Forget about the hustle and bustle of crowded malls and jam-packed parking lots. Think southern hospitality meets the modern retail industry. And many retirees and baby boomers from the nearby mountain retirement communities find Biltmore Village a refreshing change from traditional indoor malls.

Whether it’s a little black dress, a button-down shirt, galoshes for the little one, or a wrench there is a store there that will undoubtedly carry it. Also among the shops are several restaurants ranging from fast food to fine dinning. So no matter what time of day shoppers show up, they can always find something to eat. There are also several places to grab a quick snack or end an end of the shopping day cocktail or two.

To see all that Asheville has to offer, which includes the Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Village and many friendly mountain retirement communities in and around the area, it is best to stay for several days. Fortunately, all of these major attractions are in close proximity to one of the best places to stay, the Grand Bohemian Hotel located at Biltmore Village.

Its very name says it all. Step inside the Grand Bohemian Hotel and patrons are greeted with luxury and sophistication. A feel of Old-World ambiance envelops every guest that passes through the grand lobby. The atmosphere successfully mixes antique relics with modern elements. The accommodations are so inviting that guests may opt to stay-in, but staying-in could mean missing out on exploring one of the best neighborhoods in Asheville.

Surrounding the famed Biltmore Estate are numerous mountain retirement communities that feature a variety of home styles from gated communities to low maintenance Asheville NC condos. For retirees and baby boomers looking to relocate or just purchase a vacation house, there is a lot to choose from, and many of the communities offer unique qualities that set them a part.

Southcliff is one of those mountain communities. This gated community close to downtown offers its residents access to nature’s splendor. The family friendly community is strategically centered to allow panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition to enjoying all of the great outdoors, Southcliff homeowners don’t have to choose between rural or urban lifestyles. Southcliff offers both options.

The gated community at The Ramble Biltmore Forest is another highly sought after homestead. The Asheville neighborhood is close to downtown and is ideal for residents who live active and vibrant lives and want to live close to the Pack Square Park. Amenities at The Ramble Biltmore Forest include a wellness center, community parks, hiking trails and a strong social infrastructure.  Residents can build a custom home or find a re-sale residence that fits their needs and wants.

Asheville NC condos continue to be coveted homesteads for baby boomers and retirees looking to live a slicker and more modern lifestyle in one of the city’s most trendy area. Downtown Asheville is known for some of the best condominiums in Western North Carolina. Homebuyers have plenty of condo residences to choose from. Whether it’s a roof top terrace, a studio, one bedroom or multiple bedrooms, the variety of Asheville NC condos abound to meet to homebuyers’ specification. The buildings are not easy to get into so let us know if you’d like a personal tour.
