Golf is not only mentally and physically challenging, but also offers a multitude of health benefits for those who thrive on the sport. Walking while carrying the bag, boosts the heart rate to 100 beats per minute and reduces the risk of stroke and diabetes while burning an average of 1000 calories per session.  Additionally, golf is accredited with reducing stress, increasing endorphin production (the feel good chemical in the brain), improved sleep and brain stimulation through the agility of eye/hand coordination.  Socialization is also the key to maintaining relationships during retirement and beyond and according to a study done by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, golfers have a 40% lower death rate than their peers adding 5 years to their life expectancy.  Basking in nature also relaxes the body and can alleviate anxiety while allowing folks to soak up vitamin D from the sun which reduces the risk of depression, heart disease and certain cancers.  Golf is also a great way to promote business interests as some profound deals are often made during the game.  Lake Oconee golf courses present one of the fun things to do in Greensboro GA.
