The nearby Ford Plantation is 18 miles from Savannah, and is an excellent location for people looking to retire to Georgia in a luxury gated community. It's now a private sporting community with more than 400 homes, a Pete Dye golf course, day spa, a deep water marina, equestrian center and fitness center. There are also miles and miles of horseback riding, biking and hiking trails.

Nearby Waterways Township consists of a number of neighborhoods – each with its own individual character and charm.  The neighborhoods epitomize southern living – with their classic architecture, deep verandas and raised porches. For families who prefer a more traditional aesthetic, WaterWays Township welcomes classic brick homes. If you’re looking for fun things to do in Savannah GA, WaterWays Township features three miles of stocked lagoons designed by bass fishing legend Bill Dance. In this area, water isn’t just for getting around, it’s a way of life.
