FLORIDA BEACH COMMUNITIES

If the thought of embracing a snow shovel this winter is weighing heavily on your mind, maybe it is time to think about embracing something else -a golf club or fishing rod and a new winter life, outdoors in the Vero Beach, Florida area. Much more appealing winter pastimes could be found near Vero Beach golf communities, such as sitting in a lounge chair under the full moon listening to music in the Sebastian Inlet State Park. September through May the park hosts it Night Sounds Park Concert Series, the performances are scheduled on the weekends closest to the full moon, so the sounds of the sea and wildlife are backdrops to the music. Upcoming performances include:

  • SIRSY, Indie Rock, October 10, 7-9 PM
  • 23 TREEZ, Island Reggae mixed with Classic Rock, November 27, 7-9 PM
  • COUNTRY CLASSICS BAND, December 26, 7-9 PM
  • THE LAST CHANCE BAND, Country, January 23, 7-9 PM

In addition to music under the stars, Sebastian Inlet State Park offers many activities centered around its location on the East Coast of Florida. The Park is on the Atlantic Ocean at the inlet to the Sebastian River less than 30 minutes north of Vero Beach, center of many premier Florida beach communities and Vero Beach luxury homes. The jetties and pier in the park offer some of the finest saltwater fishing in the United States. Snook, Red Fish, Blue Fish and Mackerel are abundant here. The park sports three miles of sandy beach on the Atlantic side and some prime kayaking and canoeing on the Indian River side of the Island. The McLarty Treasure Museum informs about the history of the "Treasure Coast", this area of Florida is named for the fleet of Spanish Treasure ships that were lost during a storm in 1715. Gold coins still wash up on the beach in the area. The park hosts Surfing Competitions, Sea Turtle Walks, Cast Net Classes and Surf Fishing Workshops for the gardening inclined Plant ID Walks are scheduled to learn to Identify what grows from the Dunes to the Lagoon on the Barrier Islands.

After hanging up your snow shovel the cooler months are a great time to check out Florida beach communities. The area south of Sebastian Inlet along the East Atlantic Coast is well known for Vero Beach Luxury Homes. Here are a few of our favorite Vero Beach golf communities.

ORCHID ISLAND GOLF AND BEACH CLUB

A West Indies inspired community located in the exclusive Town of Orchid on Orchid Island. Orchid Island is a barrier island bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon just north of Vero Beach. The gated beach community with an Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course is packed with amenities as well as one of the most beautiful upspoiled beaches in the area. Luxury homes are available with golf views or waterfront and in between. Members of Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club enjoy an active social calendar with several clubs ranging from art to bridge. Tennis, kayaking and water sports are available as well as an on site spa and dining. Bird watching is so outstanding here. The Audubon Society has designated the club as a Signature Sanctuary.

SEA OAKS BEACH AND TENNIS CLUB

Another one of the area's Florida beach communities is both oceanfront and riverside on Vero Beach's Barrier Island. A gated community with a diverse housing selection; homes range from low rise condos to townhomes to single family dwellings. The community is named for its outstanding preservation of existing Live Oaks. A luxurious clubhouse (currently being refreshed) hosts holiday dinners throughout the season for members. Tennis, a Fitness Center, a Marina and Yacht Club are on this property as well. Activities include bridge and choral clubs and access to the nearby Jungle Walking Trail.

THE BERMUDA CLUB

The Bermuda Club property runs from the Indian River across the barrier island, stopping just short of the Atlantic Ocean at A1A. Amenities include a Clubhouse overlooking a water feature, the Jungle Walking Trail is on the Indian River side of the property and a private beach on the Atlantic Ocean is a short walk from the lushly landscaped entrance. Housing types available here include condos and single family homes. The clubhouse provides a center for the community with an active social calendar.
