One of our favorite best mountain towns in Georgia is Dahlonega, named Best Value Retirement City by U.S. News and World Report. Georgia offers far more than peaches, peanuts and onions. During football season, it is hard not to see red where ever you are in Athens because red is the Georgia Bulldogs team color. Athens Georgia is below the Snow Belt making it ideal for year round golf course living at The Georgia Club in Athens. Or if Georgia lake communities better suit you, it's hard to beat Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee.

Atlanta is only about an hour west of Athens and is where you can find world class medical care, important to retirees. Getting away from the big cities and breathing in the mountain air of Georgia will immediately transform you.
