Vero Beach Art Under The Oaks
Published on March 3, 2014

Pablo Picasso once said, “Painting is just another way of keeping a diary.” While the rest of the world is busy working, more and more retirees have discovered new interests living in one of the best art towns in Florida. Vero Beach is well known as one of the top retirement destinations in Florida filled with dozens of art galleries, exhibits, classes and museums. Baby Boomers living in the Vero Beach neighborhoods have easy access to art and other new outlets in their spare time, and many choose Vero Beach as the place to explore one’s creative side!

While visitors enjoy the unspoiled beaches and dream about owning a gorgeous Indian River Lagoon waterfront home, many savvy retirees are already settled into their gated communities and are living their dreams in Florida! The Vero Beach Art Club is busy year round and to kick off the spring season, the Under the Oaks Art Exhibition is featuring 3-day fine art show at the Riverside Park beginning on March 7, 2014. The Vero Beach Art Club hosts the event that includes more than 210 exhibits of arts and crafts and awards to artists in eight different categories. Proceeds of this event will be donated to The City of Vero Beach Recreation Department for art supplies for their local art programs.

An estimated 80,000 people will attend this exhibition and plenty of attention is being paid to this event. While the residents know that Vero Beach is one of the best art towns in Florida, media outlets like Sunshine Artist Magazine acknowledges the Under the Oaks Art Exhibition as the top 200 nationwide in art festivals. Baby Boomers living in the local Vero Beach neighborhoods are looking forward to this event, but this is just one of many art events The Vero Beach Art Club provides throughout the entire year.

Resident retirees living in the local communities like Grand Harbor Golf and Beach Club, The Island Club or Orchid Island can enjoy a monthly show called Art in the Park, hosted by the 600 active Vero Beach Art Club members. The art show is located at the gorgeous Humiston Park at the edge of Vero’s barrier island. The park, local shops and restaurants are all close and offer fun activities for retirees and their families year round. On April 12, 2014, the Vero Beach Art Club will feature an exhibit sponsored by the The Cultural Council of Indian River County. Attendees can meet local artists and find out which ones were awarded for their amazing creativity.

For retirees interested in relocating to other beach or boating communities like The Moorings, Seagrove or the Sea Oaks Beach and Tennis Club, there is even more to to do! While art shows and festivals are perfect outside of the home, the private gated communities have their own amenities to occupy their residents. These communities have available Indian River Lagoon waterfront homes for sale and other stunning lots with beautiful views of beach landscapes and marinas. Tennis courts, fitness centers and boat docking are provided in these private gated communities. Community organizations and events are found in these Vero Beach neighborhoods, and retirees are having a blast whether they are relaxing in their homes or spending a day in one of the best art towns in Florida.

Whether painting like Picasso is a retiree’s interest or spending a day in one of the Vero Beach marinas is more appealing, Vero Beach is the place to be for art exploration and relaxation.
