Reynolds Lake Oconee Swimming Club

Lake Oconee Georgia
Published on October 13, 2016

Many people by now have heard about famous golf resorts near Atlanta, but did you know about Reynolds Lake Oconee’s other well-known amenities there such as water sports? One of the finest Lake Oconee real estate developments in Central Georgia is known for its six award-winning golf courses. But the water related activities of the gated master planned communities have also drawn accolades.

Swimming, recommended as the best low-impact form of exercise by doctors for both adults and children, is a popular activity seen around this southeast community. Whether it’s in a warm lake or salt water swimming pool, there are plenty of options for guests and members of Reynolds Lake Oconee to grab a pair of goggles and dive in.

Reynolds Swimming Team

For the youngsters of Reynolds, the community offers a year round Reynolds Rapid Swim Team those children ages 4 to 16 can join. In the summer, the swimming club has contests with other groups. Winters are devoted to conditioning and training. They do their swimming at the Lake Club and the Linger Long Pool.

For children, awards or not, the Reynolds Rapid Swim Team has long been a highlight. The program has existed for over 20 years in delivering quality swimming instruction to youth. The team is comprised of children ranging in age from 4 to 18 who hone their skills in the water through competing at both a local and state level.

The Lake Club Pools

But, sorry kids, the fun is not just for you. The Lake Club has three swimming pools, one for adults only, one equipped with a slide, perfect for families, and one indoor Olympic-sized swimming pool perfect water aerobics or morning/ afternoon laps.  All three, equally unique share one common quality, a beautiful view of Lake Oconee, which has a lot to see since it has 174 miles of shoreline and is the second largest lake in Georgia.

The unique qualities of the Lake Club’s Infinity Pool were recently recognized for its lake view experience, among other qualities, by the prestigious Tri-State American Society of Landscape Architects at a gala in Asheville, NC. Buyers frequently ask us which communities have 'real' swimming amenities. Reynolds Lake Oconee always quickly comes to mind.

Linger Long Park Pools

The Linger Long Park includes a junior-sized Olympic pool, poolside jacuzzi tub and even a children’s wading pool and playground. Here,  you are surrounded by green space that includes a variety of recreational activities that are a few minutes’ walk from the tennis courts, bocce courts and other activities like long but leisurely walking trails.

Lake Oconee

In 1982, the nearby river became Lake Oconee and Reynolds Lake Oconee. Since then, it has evolved into a world-class destination in the rolling hills of Georgia, offering a great variety of activities on its 10,000 acres of family-style retreat. Swimming is far from the only water sport found here. Nearby Lake Oconee has 19,000 acres that offer camping, boating, swimming, water skiing. And for fishermen, one of the best places in Georgia to throw out a line.

For boaters, there’s four full-service marinas. For others more interested in racquet sports, there’s a Tennis Center with hard and soft courts. For everyone else, there’s walking or biking the 21 miles of trails. Or getting to the Lake Club Wellness Center that offers aerobics, or any kind of workout.

Few golf resorts near Atlanta also can match its matchless six golf courses. They were named one of only 11 golf resorts in the country to earn the coveted Platinum Medal from Golf Magazine. Since MetLife’s investment in the lakeshore development in 2002, five of the half dozen golf courses have undergone multi-million dollar improvements.
