"If someone asks if you're a lake person, mountain person or city person, say yes." The Cliffs

Seven picture perfect communities within a 70 mile radius of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Carolinas and members have access to all of them! The Cliffs communities offer property owners the use of hundreds of millions of dollars in sports and wellness amenities along with a fun filled social calendar. Under new ownership, Arendale is bringing a fresh approach and financial muscle to a brand already known for quality in the Carolinas. The Cliffs at Keowee Springs, Keowee Vineyards and Keowee Falls are stunning lakefront gated communities on Lake Keowee in Western South Carolina. The Cliffs at Glassy, Walnut Cove, Valley and Mountain Park are gated mountain oriented communities in both North and South Carolina.

GOLF

Bucking the national trend, The Cliffs continues to successfully attract golfers to their award winning communities. Last year, golf rounds were up 9% and are still trending higher according to Managing Partner of The Cliffs Clubs, David Sawyer. Part of The Cliffs success is by shifting more of their focus to the beginner and new golfers along with easy programs designed for ladies and families with children. At The Cliffs at Keowee Springs, the golf course has the one of the most forward thinking designs with three sets of six holes. This allows players who do not want to play a full 18 to enjoy 6 or 12 holes of golf and easily bow out at the turn. At the Keowee Springs Golf Turnhouse, Lee's Carolina Smokehouse serves up southern deliciousness.

Of the 90 golf communities scored on our website, we find The Cliffs communities deliver incredible value when it comes to club membership. Seven courses, seven communities, one membership. That’s their tag line and it makes sense. Members could literally play a different golf course every day of the week! The monthly cost is $865. We pay $510 a month in maintenance for our oceanfront condo and have the use of one clubhouse and a pool. For $355 more a month, The Cliffs' offers an impressive amenity package. Another way of looking at it: Disney charges $1,492 for 30 days of fun. Cut the expense in half and bring your grandkids to your home at The Cliffs! Membership includes the use of 7 clubhouses (some with incredible views), 5 fitness centers, tennis courts, an equestrian center, two marinas, swimming pools, miles of hiking trails and more…

CYCLING

Over the summer, The Cliffs teamed up with Greenville resident George Hincapie to lead its bicycling program which includes eight guided rides a year. During his 19-year professional career, Hincapie was regarded as the premier American classics rider of his generation. He competed in a record 17 Ronde van Vlaanderen races and finished second at the grueling Paris-Roubaix, the best ever for any American. Beyond the classics he rode in the Tour de France 17 times and won three US National Road Race championships.

The Greenville area has become a perennial host for professional cycling competitions, and Bicycling Magazine named it one of the "Best Small Cities for Cycling.” Cycling on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a popular activity that provides 469 miles of picturesque vistas, and is easily accessible from The Cliffs at Walnut Cove.

WATER SPORTS

With three out of the seven communities on Lake Keowee, water sports is a rapidly growing activity at The Cliffs. Members have access to paddleboards, kayaks and boats. Member programs on the lake include classes on wake boarding and water skiing. The community also coordinates waterfall hikes, rafting trips and guided hikes in the area’s national parks. The Cliffs has converted its traditional golf pro shops into multifaceted stores which include outdoor gear, gardening items, home decor embellishments and cooking accessories. The Cliffs' Storehouses, formerly known as Pro Shops, have won national awards for innovation at the PGA Show.

ORGANIC FARM

Last month, the community reestablished its organic farm lead by Craig Weiner. The Cliffs Organic Farm specializes in growing varieties of fruits and vegetables, utilizing organic growing practices. Growing produce for superior flavor and disease resistance, the farm uses no GMOs, only works with natural pesticides and fertilizers, and utilizes careful crop rotation and companion planting to minimize outside inputs, like pesticides. Because of these practices, the farm has become a local favorite among residents and popular restaurants, like Soby’s, The Lazy Goat, Stella’s Bistro and The Nose Dive.

APPALACHIAN HISTORY COMES ALIVE

With a rich history of moonshine in Travelers Rest in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, The Cliffs at Mountain Park has delightfully preserved Appalachian history designing its new clubhouse and entertainment barn as if they have been there since the 1961. Over $10 million has been invested in new amenities at The Cliffs at Mountain Park. On October 11, 2014, Gary Player is hosting The First Tee, a fund raising event to benefit the local Greenville chapter of First Tee.

CULINARY EXPERIENCES

The Cliffs' have taken the dining experience to a whole new level. Knowing members appreciate culinary masterpieces and outstanding wine, its renowned chefs have brought innovative cuisine to all 21 dining and private event venues in the seven communities. The team of chefs come from the most respected educational institutions, luxury hotels and award winning restaurants. The Cliffs chefs and hospitality team have appeared in Bon Appetit, "Cupcake Wars", "Garden Smart", "Good Morning America",  "Los Angeles Times", "Southern Living", "The New York Times" and "Woman's Day". Having access to the community's on-site five acre Organic Farm provides the chefs the freshest and best seasonal ingredients.

The Cliffs Wine+Food Festival took place over the summer and sold out quickly. Members enjoyed dinners, wine tastings and expert panel discussions. This first time event kicked off at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove featuring delicacies prepared by Chef Bill Anderson. Culinary Chef Kevin Furmaneck expertly crafted food masterpieces at The Cliffs at Mountain Park as Jim Anderson of Patricia Green Cellars guiding a wine tour through the Willamette Valley of Oregon. At The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards, Chef Francis Turck turned an ordinary clambake into extraordinary and paired it with wines from Schug Winery. The event was a huge success! The date for The Cliffs Wine+Food Festival in 2015 will be announced in January.

The monthly Cliffs Living Magazine is filled over 30 pages of activities taking place at all of The Cliffs communities. There aren’t enough hours in the day to enjoy all the health, wellness and outdoor activities happening at The Cliffs and it’s not just golf.
