The Blue Ridge Parkway isn’t the only place in Western North Carolina to enjoy hundred mile layered mountain views. You’ll find them at Grand Highlands at Bearwallow Mountain located in the suburbs of Asheville, at elevation just below 4,000 feet. The views are constantly changing, from dramatic sunrises and sunsets to moments when cotton-like clouds play hide and seek among the mountains. Here summer months are cooler and the mild winters are short. Spring time brings wildflowers, azaleas and delightful song birds. The fall season brightens the mountains with the most beautiful colors imaginable.

At night time, we’re confident you won’t find a better place to stargaze and count millions of stars while watching the twinkling lights of the city. Some say it’s as close to heaven as possible in Western North Carolina and after visiting over 100 gated communities near Asheville NC, we’d have to agree.

This is one of the rare North Carolina mountain communities with both gentle topography and true mountaintop living. Relaxing winding roads lead up to the community’s gated entrance where you’re welcomed by pastoral pasture bordered by brown split railing fencing. In the center is the community’s 3,000 square foot community barn painted farmhouse red, a venue for social functions such as family celebrations, musical performances and old fashioned country weddings.

The community’s 12,000 square foot dramatic Grand Lodge is under renovation and expected to re-open in 2018. The elegant lodge houses a full-size catering kitchen, community fitness center, game & billiards rooms, and a library. The views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the private lodge are unparalleled.

Highland Lawn is the community’s 65-acre pasture outlined by a brown fence, which surrounds the Grand Lodge. On any given day, you might find al fresco community events, a game of croquet, frisbee, kite flying, picnics, or private parties. You’ll find a mile-long network of recreational trails for hiking or horseback riding on the property, and these link up with the longer Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy’s Bearwallow Mountain summit trail.

The architecture and curb appeal gained the community the honor of 2013 Community of the Year by the Asheville Home Builders Association.

Buyers have the choice of purchasing mountaintop homesites, private wooded estates or resale homes. New homes in Asheville NC with authentic mountain views can’t compete with what you’ll find at Grand Highlands. Away from the density of the city, homes in the community incorporate the aesthetic appeal of the surrounding meadows and woodlands while preserving the unspoiled whisper of the winds and rustling leaves on the trees. Mountain cabins begin in the low $400's or resale cottages can be found in the high $600’s.

Ready-to-build homesites are priced from the $70’s to the low $400’s. With over a dozen pre-approved custom home builders, Grand Highlands has made home build easy by carefully selecting your architect, builder and by providing suggested floor plans. Utilities available include city water, AT&T optical cable for TV and internet, septic and propane.

Near the heart of a triangle formed by Asheville, Hendersonville and Lake Lure, the mountain community of Grand Highlands is a relaxing 15 minute ride from downtown historic Hendersonville, home to numerous breweries, restaurants, and one-of-a-kind boutiques. Asheville is where residents head off to for their ‘big city fix’ for festivals and a thriving arts and culture scene. Grand Highlands is close enough to modern conveniences such as an international airport yet far enough to feel like you’re living along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
