Development began at Burlingame Country Club in 1981. Real estate developer Mark Meadows bought this North Carolina mountain community assets in 2006. In 2009, Burlingame Country Club was taken over by the Property Owners Association. The club incurred $1.5 in long term debt to acquire the assets. Club members are currently being assessed $120 a month until the debt is retired.
