Ford's marina provides deep water access to the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean. Boat slips are available up to 65 feet adjacent to the Ogeechee Outfitters marina store. Pete Dye designed the private championship golf course at The Ford Plantation reflective of Scottish-style links. The Main House is the focal piece of this Georgia private community and was Henry Ford's winter estate home. Social events throughout the year are hosted at the historic Main House and residents can stop by daily to enjoy a Lowcountry breakfast overlooking Lake Clara. Kayaking and canoeing are outdoor activities popular on the protected interior waterways at The Ford Plantation. The sporting club activities calendar is filled with fishing tournaments, tennis tournaments, golf tournaments and social club events. This South Carolina equestrian community also is the host of a Speaker Series where educational presenters from around the area share history, culture and topics of interest to residents. The closest best schools are Savannah Country Day School, Savannah Christian, St. Vincent's Academy, and Benedictine Military School. 

Of the 400 single family homes planned, about 160 homes are built to date at The Ford Plantation.
